Went here on a fluke!! Seriously so delicious I got the spicy pulled perk with Mac and cheese and coleslaw! Best BBQ I've ever had! Also had a very good Bloody Mary. Would highly recommend going here!

I love finding barbecue all over the country and seeing what each region brings to this great American tradition. So when that smoky tang wafted into our car on our way through Wallace, I pulled over to see where it was coming from, and I'm so glad I did. I've had my bbq in shacks, down alleys, at chains and out of trucks, and you can usually tell by the folks manning the pit what you're going to get. Some are surly, some grouchy, and some just flat out friendly but there's always that special pride of food in the best places and the Historic Smokehouse has it ( the friendly kind). I'm all about the brisket and ribs, silky but dry so I can test your sauce. Theirs was so good I got an order of brisket to go, because driving can be hungry business.

Um. . . The worst service ever. Portions to cost. . . Ridiculous. After an hour of waiting the kids dog came with a hamburger bun. The "Alaskan burger" is a compressed nasty pattie. The half chicken was half a Cornish hen or about the size of a pigeon. The ribs were horrible. The red beans and rice side came in a 3oz solo portion cup. We love smoked meats real BBQ. But Yikes, Yuck! Gosh hope these guys can turn it around. The beer was good and the waitress, that used to work at Wallace Brewing, keep her she'll help salvage for lacking every where else. Im glad they turned on the light over our table finally. The hostess wore a shirt that said "there's probably a 99.9% chance I don't care" . . .Um ya speaks for itself, we we're warned . LOL don't waste your money!!!! We spent $84 . . .I feel sick. It's unfortunate too . . . because they only deserved at most 1* - I probably won't get any honest feedback from this business.

Food is excellent, a lot of people seem to visit this place. Stick with the BBQ staples (red meats, pork and fish). Wallace Brewery is down the street one block, and visible from the entrance. Take a walk straight ahead, go to the sunny side of the street, and finish your meal with the Huckleberry Shandy.

I thought the service was good, could have been better, although the location is remote. I had budgeted a certain amount of cash for the meal. Asking what the sides were, I chose one. On the bill, it was charged separately.

Finally getting the server, asked them, and although there was a notice in the paper towel dispenser 'Cash or Check Only', she said they do accept cards. Relieved I dug into my pocket and, had enough cash in either case. She assured me it should have been included and fixed the bill. I tipped her and all was well.
